Performance Therapies Welcomes Carlie Barman as Head Athletic Trainer at Kirkwood Community College
Performance Therapies is excited to welcome Carlie Barman, MAT, LAT, ATC, to our team as the new Head Athletic Trainer at Kirkwood Community College.
Carlie joins us with a strong background in collegiate sports medicine and a passion for helping athletes stay healthy, recover from injuries, and perform at their best.
She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Athletic Training degrees from Iowa State University, where she gained valuable hands-on experience working with several collegiate athletic programs. During her clinical rotations, Carlie developed skills in injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, emergency care, and return-to-play planning while working with student-athletes across multiple sports.
After graduating, Carlie completed an athletic training internship at Auburn University. There, she provided medical coverage for women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, and men’s basketball while also assisting with the men’s golf program. She was also part of the medical team that helped coordinate care during the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, working alongside Auburn Sports Medicine and Southeastern Conference staff to support hundreds of competing athletes.
For Carlie, athletic training has always been about combining two passions: sports and helping people.
“I wanted a career where I could make a difference every day,” Carlie said. “Seeing the impact athletic trainers have on athletes throughout their careers inspired me to pursue this profession. I love being able to help athletes recover, stay healthy, and get back to doing what they enjoy.”
That commitment to athlete care is what makes Carlie such a great fit for Performance Therapies.
“I was drawn to Performance Therapies because of the opportunity to work with a close-knit team that truly values collaboration and patient-centered care,” she said. “Building relationships with athletes, coaches, and the community is something that’s really important to me.”
As Head Athletic Trainer at Kirkwood Community College, Carlie will work closely with Eagles student-athletes, coaches, and healthcare providers to deliver high-quality sports medicine services throughout the academic year. Her focus will be on injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, emergency care, and helping athletes safely return to competition.
