Ben Smogard

Ben Smogard is a Physical Therapist at Performance Therapies in Cedar Rapids, where he brings a passion for patient care, movement, and long-term recovery. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Ben’s journey into physical therapy began after experiencing a few sports injuries of his own. Those recoveries sparked his interest in the profession and showed him the value of spending time with patients, helping them progress from injury to full function. He loves the opportunity to walk alongside patients throughout their rehab journey—watching them reach their goals and return to the activities they love.

He first connected with Performance Therapies during a clinical rotation in PT school, and the supportive, high-level team environment inspired him to return as a full-time clinician. He’s excited to continue growing his skills and delivering top-quality care to the Cedar Rapids community.

Outside the clinic, Ben is a competitive waterskier and has skied across the country, including with the Five Seasons Waterski Team in Cedar Rapids. His favorite food is steak, and one of his most memorable trips was a family vacation to Iceland, Norway, and Italy after his brother’s college graduation.
