Carlie Barman, MAT, LAT, ATC
Head Athletic Trainer | Kirkwood Community College
Carlie Barman serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Kirkwood Community College through Performance Therapies. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Athletic Training degrees from Iowa State University, where she gained extensive clinical experience working with a variety of collegiate athletic programs. During her education, Carlie developed a strong foundation in injury prevention, injury evaluation, rehabilitation, and comprehensive athlete care.
Following graduation, Carlie completed an athletic training internship at Auburn University, providing medical coverage for women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, and men’s basketball while also working with the men’s golf program. She also served as a co-host for the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, collaborating with the Southeastern Conference and Auburn Sports Medicine staff to coordinate medical operations and support the health and safety of competing athletes.
Carlie chose athletic training because it allows her to combine her passion for sports with her commitment to helping others. After witnessing the impact athletic trainers have on athletes throughout their careers, she was inspired to pursue a profession focused on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and helping individuals safely return to the activities they love.
She joined Performance Therapies because of its collaborative, patient-centered approach and the opportunity to be part of a close-knit team that values meaningful relationships with patients, athletes, coaches, and the community. Carlie is dedicated to providing high-quality care that helps athletes perform at their best while supporting their long-term health and wellness.
Outside of work, you can find her spending time with her two Golden Retrievers, Indi and Brewer, going for walks and adventures!
